I have always marveled at how the monarchy of Great Britain continues to exist since it is not a ruling family, but an institution that the subjects love and support at great cost. Is the family Windsor truly royal or is it simply because the people choose to elevate them to that high position? History has proven that people want a king or queen they can see, hear, and bow to; and recently we saw a beautiful roll-out of opulence and splendor as Harry and Meagan became one and the people loved it.
There is another wedding scheduled that comes immediately following the Apocalypse (Revelation of Jesus Christ), consisting of The Marriage Supper of The Lamb. This supper lasts for 30 days and the Bride of this wedding are those who have chosen to make Jesus their Lord and King. It will be an event that will bind the Bride of Christ and the Groom for eternity. The Bride will take on their forehead the new name of their Groom and a white stone will be given to each and in that stone, a special new name as a gift from the Son of God. For those who overcome sin in this life, there are more wedding gifts as found in the message to the Seven Churches found in Revelation chapters 2 and 3.
As we study the days to come, we will see many things that appear similar but are in opposition, for example: While the Wedding Supper is celebrated in Heaven, on Earth, there is quite a different feast; It’s called The Great Supper of Our God. While the Son is feasting with the Bride of Christ and drinking the best wine, the Wrath of God is being poured out upon the ungodly and the fowl of the air and beasts of the field will be feeding upon their carcasses. It is a feast of His Great Sacrifice, because God created and loved the lost, even died for them by His Son’s Sacrifice, but finally, because they hated God and rejected His Son—they must pay the price as they become the feast. “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.” Rev. 19:17,18, Ezekiel 39:17
Similar, but in great opposition also, is the wine served: While it is the best wine that the Groom serves at the wedding feast, it is wine tread from the Grapes of Wrath that the Father pours down upon the ungodly which is also referred to as “the cup of His Indignation,” and it is a bitter cup served full strength. Rev. 14:10
All mankind will attend either one or the other feast following the Apocalypse. Whether they will eat or be eaten solely depends upon their royalty, that is, whether they are reborn into the Family of God through Jesus, God’s Messiah, or are retained by the god of this world who is the serpent of old.
